This 4.5 cm pendant is a visual tribute to Aztec cosmology. The Aztec Calendar — the Sun Stone — carved in relief onto .950 silver, dialogues with the silver cross that crowns the piece, an encounter of two worlds. The green fire opal, hand-set at the base, captures light as obsidian once did in prehispanic temples. Each time you wear it, you carry a thousand years of Mesoamerican wisdom, reinterpreted by the master silversmiths of Taxco.

The combined technique — lost-wax casting for the calendar relief, manual stone-setting — backs its authenticity. Sterling .950 (the 950 hallmark engraved) is purer than .925, softer and more resonant. In Taxco, this purity is an act of craft: it allows deeper reliefs, details that don't blur. Your pendant is not a reproduction — it's an act of continuity with 500 years of Taxco silversmithing.

Taxco de Alarcón, Guerrero, is the world's capital of artisanal silver. The Arte Taxco story begins in that tradition: every piece we create honors five centuries of masters who chose silver as their language. This prehispanic pendant is yours because we believe art doesn't belong in a museum — it belongs to those who love it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does it come with a chain?
A: No. The price is for the pendant only. We offer .925 sterling silver chains in 45, 50, and 55 cm lengths so you can choose what suits you best. Check availability and pricing at hola@artetaxco.mx.

Q: What is fire opal?
A: A vibrant variety of opal with brilliant color play, typically in greens and reds. Opal is more delicate than other stones; avoid sudden temperature changes.

Q: What's the difference between .950 and .925 silver?
A: .950 is 95% pure (5% alloy), .925 is 92.5% pure (7.5% alloy). .950 is softer, more resonant, and allows deeper reliefs. Both are authentic; .950 is the choice of the silversmith who seeks maximum purity.
